Hokitika Glow-worms

At Hokitika we took a break from the road. Spent most of the day on the beach. SBH built a hut out of driftwood. Later, he and Hillery explored downtown Hokitika and saw the National Kiwi Center, which featured one lonely kiwi in a dark room and 150-year-old eels in a tank. Later, they bought sunglasses and watched jade carvers in action.

After dinner we built a beach fire and watched the sun set.

At dark we went to see the glow-worms—fungus fly larva—at the glow-worm dell, across the highway from the Shining Star.

In the dark, they look like constellations of stars.
