Boundary Creek
We didn’t put much road between Cameron Flat and our vehicle. Not more than 20km down the road we stopped at the Boundary Creek Scenic Reserve to take a look at Lake Wanaka. A 3-week vacation affords the luxury of stopping. That’s right, deviating from the itinerary. We had planned to drive to Queenstown, but a delightful breeze was bending the shore grass, the sun was out, and the mountains on the other side of the lake were in need of supervision. Our senses intoxicated, we parked our rig on the beach, dispersed the sand toys in a clutter, unfolded the beach chairs, and flexed the bottle opener. The campground sits on a delta formed by sediment coming down Boundary Creek. Unlike most of the shoreline, the delta is quite flat. The lake is very clear and the sediment coming down the creek so visible, even a 5-year-old can understand how this process works.
